Monthly Education Hosted by Eau Claire Master Gardeners

Renew your knowledge, learn something and have great snacks every third Monday of the month at 6:30 pm the Eau Claire Master Gardeners present an educational horticultural program at the Extension Office in Altoona.

 

Refreshments and door prizes are part of each program. The public is welcome.

Preserving the Harvest - Becky Gutzman

New equipment, new recipes and new ideas are making food preservation more popular than ever. Join Food Preservation Educator Becky Gutzman for updates on methods and tips for success that will inspire you to head for the kitchen!

 

Becky is a retired UW-Extension Food Preservation Specialist, and loves preserving the many vegetables and fruits she grows in her garden. She’s also an active Master Gardener Volunteer and current WIMGA president.

Winter Tree Identification - Jim Schwiebert

Jim Schwiebert is a retiring naturalist from Beaver Creek Reserve, Fall Creek, WI.  His past work experience has included jobs in the fields of fisheries, forestry, and wildlife management.  In his 13+ years as a naturalist at Beaver Creek, Jim has had the good fortune to be able to develop programs in special areas of interest.  One of those interests is winter tree ID.  Leaves are one of the biggest clues for tree and shrub identification - so what do you do when there are no leaves?  This program will point out unique bud, twig, branching, and bark characteristics of nearly 30 native hardwood trees, making identification possible even in

Join us for our annual meeting. Board elections and the Digger Award will be announced, as will winners of the 2020 photo contest. There will be a couple of activities. Everyone will need to provide their own holiday treats and beverages.

 

Watch for 2021 Winter Garden Seminar - It will be online and is in planning stages.
