August 16, 7:00 pm.  Dr. Nora Mitchell: Diversity of Native "Wiscon-sunflowers"

Wild sunflowers are not only beautiful roadside attractions, they are stunning examples of natural hybridization in plants. Join us to learn about the native sunflowers in the Upper Midwest and why understanding their natural diversity is important.

 

Dr. Mitchell is an assistant professor of Biology at the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire. In addition to her plant research, she teaches classes on introductory biology, plant systematics, and evolution. She enjoys playing ultimate frisbee and going for runs along the rivers in Eau Claire.
